The Kings chair

Three years after the gallery with the apostles was raised, the church received an honorary visit. King Christian V, accompanied by a large company, visited Norway in 1685 and Tingvoll was one of the places he visited. During the worship service, he sat in this chair which was placed near the pulpit and listened to the priest Tausan preach. To commemorate this, a top was placed on the chair with the monogram «C5» and the inscription (translated): «In King Christian V’s memory who was on this chair on June 28th, 1685». The chair is now placed in the chancel and is used by those who assist the service. To the left of the chair is the opening to the stairs that lead to the lectory.
