Within, there is a room over six feet in height; there is a peeping hole located at the top. Probably, this was a place for the statue of a saint. People may have stopped here and said prayers as they did before the cross on the outside chancel wall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The &laquo;weapon-house&raquo; dates to the early 1600s, perhaps even earlier. In older times, armed men and soldiers had to leave their weapons here before entering the church. Thus emerged the name &laquo;weapon-house.&raquo; Originally, there probably was not an attached building here in front of the entrance to the church. The attachment obstructs the vision of the beautiful marble portal.
