In 1660, he and his first wife donated the large altarpiece, carved by an artist from Trondelag. The center pictures were painted by a Dutch artist. The largest picture depicts Christ on the cross and below that is a representation of the mourning of Jesus&#8217; dead body. Directly above the cross is the Resurrection and immediately above that, the Ascension. <br><br>The altarpiece has, all together, about thirty carved statues. The largest statues represent Moses with the Ten Commandments and St. John the Baptist with the Lamb (the Gospel).
