Inside weaponhouse

We now have a glimpse of the painted walls located inside the weapon-house. At some time, these beautiful paintings received an ugly treatment. This may have happened in 1837, when the weapon-house was taken down and rebuilt.

During the reconstruction, notches were cut into the logs with an axe to allow the walls to receive a roughcast of clay mixed with straw. At the restoration of the church, these notches were glued and mended.
